Q:Generally, how long is a typical worship service?
A: Each service is usually about 65 minutes.
Q: What do people wear on Sunday morning?
A: We encourage you to come as you are. You may see some people wearing coat and ties, while others will wear shorts and tee shirts.
Q: What is the worship like?
A: Worship at Lord of Life typically begins with a time of praise and worship led by a praise team of instrumentalists and vocalists. All the words for the songs and everything else you need worship is projected on our two video screens. Following the opening time of worship we include two Scripture readings, a sermon, time for prayer, an offering, communion and a blessing. Our mission is to connect people to Jesus and each other, so our services and opportunities to serve are intentionally designed to be meaningful and impactful.
Q: What type of music will I hear in worship?
A: Music on Sunday morning is best described as positive, upbeat, and God-honoring. Most of our music is Christian praise and worship songs, focused on Jesus, that has been written in the last few years. However, it is not uncommon to hear a good old hymn that is sung in a new and unique way.
Q: Is there something offered for my kids on Sunday morning?
We have Sunday school and nursery at the 10am service only. The nursery is for children 3 and under. Nursery is staffed by trained volunteers. Children (preschool-5th grade) are invited to Sunday school. Children are welcome to attend the worship service.
Q: Do I need to give an offering?
A: No, but it’s up to you. We believe the offering is an opportunity to honor God with one more part of life, namely our money. We don’t give an offering because we think that God needs our money or because we feel obligated to do so. The Bible tells us that God desires a cheerful giver. If you feel led by God to bring an offering, we would encourage you to do so, and join with us in discovering the blessings of generosity.
Q: Where does the offering go?
A: The first 10% of Lord of Life’s offering is given to Christian missionaries, missions, and ministries both locally and globally. Last year Lord of Life gave more that $96,500 to missions. The remainder of the offering goes to support the ongoing ministries of Lord of Life Church to make Jesus known in the Fox Valley Area. This includes children’s ministry, youth ministry, women’s and men’s ministry, Bible study and small group resources, guest services, our building costs including mortgage and utilities, compensating staff to lead day to day ministry and other ministry costs.
