Preparing for Worship
This Sun, May 14, is Mother’s Day. We’ll begin a new sermon series called Following Jesus In Our Busy Lives. Mark is the fastest gospel! Jesus is constantly on the move, “immediately” moving from one place to the next. We’ll learn about Jesus and apply his teaching to our busy lives today. Read Mark 1 to prepare for Sunday’s sermon.

You’re invited to a Mother’s Day brunch on Sun, May 14 from 9am-Noon in the Solid Rock Lodge. Avoid the restaurant rush, enjoy good food, fellowship and support Lord of Life’s youth ministry. Free will donations will be accepted.

If you read or watch the news, you’ve certainly heard about Islamic terrorists. Ever asked yourself, “What is Islam?” Come find out. Join Pastor Matt and Lord of Life member Ray Nordbrock for a workshop to learn about Islam and ask your questions. The same workshop will be offered twice to accommodate schedules. Register Online for The Case for Christ Books Study
On Fri, Apr 7, the influential Christian book The Case for Christ became a major motion picture in theaters. This summer, we’ll read and discuss the book together as a church. It’s helped develop the Christian faith of believers and skeptics worldwide. The Case for Christ is a journalist’s personal investigation of the evidence for Jesus. Written by Chicago’s own Lee Strobel (Lee is a former reporter for the Chicago Tribune). We’ll address common arguments people have about Jesus and we’ll be better equipped to share and defend our Christian faith.The book will be available for purchase at the church starting Sun, May 14 and we’ll meet to discuss it together on the dates below. The same content will be discussed twice each month to accommodate schedules. Take your pick: Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning. Register Online for Vacation Bible School
Join us this summer, July 10-14, for “Operation Arctic” where kids will explore the coolest Book on the planet and discover how we can know for sure that the Bible is God’s written word to us! Each evening a family dinner will start at 5:15pm, followed by the program from 6-8pm. All kids age 4 through 5th grade are invited to participate. The cost is $30/family. Register in the lobby or online at www.lolchurch.net/vbs. Youth and adults are invited to serve. We need help with meals, crafts, games, nursery, check-in, group leaders, and group assistants. Video Scavenger Hunt (grades 8-12) • Sun, June 11
On Sun, June 11 after the 10am service (around 11:30am), we’ll have lunch together at the church and then catch a train from LaFox into Wheaton for a video scavenger hunt and some ice cream. Then we’ll take the train back to Elburn and walk to the Zielke’s house (221 E Shannon St) for more food, fun, and Bible study. Ends at 6pm. Bring $ for train ticket ($8) and ice cream. Join Us for the Congregational Voter’s Meeting
Please join us for the congregation voter’s meeting on Sun, June 11 immediately after the 10am service. The meeting will start promptly in the Family Life Center so please plan to stick around or come back if you attend the 8:30am service. The order of business will include electing leaders, an update on proposed governance structure and an update from both Pastor Matt and the new Endowment Ministry Team. Your attendance and participation at this meeting is extremely important as we move forward the mission of our church together. The agenda will be available on the Connect Cart starting Sun, May 28.

Get Certified to Help After a Natural Disaster
Training and Certification for LERT (Lutheran Early Response Team) is being offered by Lutheran Church Charities. The next class is Sat, Jun 3 in Montgomery IL from 9am – 1:30pm. Cost is $35. Ladies! A New Book Study Group Just For You!
Are you feeling tired or stressed? Looking for a place to rest your heart and renew your spirit? Join us for Soul Spa by Sharla Fritz. This study will care for and refresh your spirit. Women’s Ministry is looking for ladies (all women 16 and older) to help serve and grow our ministry at Lord of Life Church. We have several opportunities for you to get involved. We are currently looking for anyone with the heart to serve in the following areas.

You’re Invited to a Night of Worship! Fri, June 9
Praise God during this night of worship at Lord of Life on Fri, June 9 at 7pm. This event is for all ages. The Lord of Life band will play worship music, lead prayer and a member of our church will give a personal testimony. Invite your friends and neighbors! Support Our May Mission of the Month, C.W.O.W
C.W.O.W (Church without Walls) is located in Ghana, Africa. John Donkoh, who is C.-W.O.W.’s pastor, serves as a missionary in Ghana where he preaches, teaches and leads the native people to a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. John also trains leaders to help meet the growing demands of the local church plants in his community. All loose change for this month will go to support C.W.O.W.

Ready to be Confirmed?
We have scheduled a Confirmation Sunday to encourage youth to take steps on the path to a personal confession of the Christian faith. First Communion at Lord of Life
At Lord of Life, instruction for first communion is a part of our confirmation process. Confirmation is the Path to a Personal Confession of Faith for youth in grades 6-12. It is a self-paced process for youth to start anytime and complete once they have met the expectations and are ready to be confirmed. On the day of their confirmation, they receive first communion and are welcome to participate in the Lord’s Supper thereafter.
