40 Things to Give up for Lent and Beyond
Looking for a devotion book for the season of Lent? Saying the Right Words
Check out an excellent article, “The Right Words: In the Midst of Life’s Pain” by our very own Carolyn Albers. The article was published in the Winter 2014 edition of Lutheran Woman’s Quarterly, which is available on the Connect Cart in the lobby or at www.lwml.org/lwq-winter-2014. In the article, Carolyn shares about the loss of her son Nick, the challenges that followed, the words and actions that have helped her and her family in the slow process of healing.

Fight for What’s Right in God’s Sight
Men’s Fight Club will meet on Sat, Feb 14 from 7:30-9am in the Solid Rock Lodge. We are studying the life of David. He had some epic failures in his love life, but left a lasting legacy as a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22). Come get encouraged, equipped and empowered for the fight. Want to Go on a Mission Trip?
The Missions Board is initiating a mission trip to Ghana, Africa scheduled for Dec 2015/Jan 2016. Rob and Cathy Geiger will be leading the trip to serve with our mission partner John Donkoh. The team will help train and encourage leaders, dedicate a water well and serve the people of Ghana. February Mission of the Month
Beautiful U Ministries is our newest mission partner. They are dedicated to serving Elburn and the surrounding area as a Christ-centered, family-style intervention program for at-risk pregnant teens and teen mothers, and works together with various social work organizations to prayerfully place a young woman with a Christ-centered Beautiful U satellite-home family. Visit Beautiful U’s resale shop at 112 N. Main Street in Elburn. Donate your new and gently used items, shop or become a volunteer.  All profits help fund their mission!

Register for the Women’s Spring Tea
Register today for the Women’s Spring Tea entitled “Country Tea” on Sat, Mar 8 from 12:30 to 3:00pm. We are pleased to have Kendra Smiley presenting Heart Clutter; What to Throw Away, Give Away and Keep. Whimsical. Witty. Wise. The three words that describe Kendra. Intentional in all she does as a sought after author, speaker, radio and TV host. Registration materials are available at the lobby display. Cost for the event is $9 per person at registration. Please register early as seating is limited. Come by yourself or with a guest. You do not need to be invited by a table hostess to attend. Table hostesses, scone bakers, food preparation and clean-up helpers are needed for the event. Sign up sheets are available at the registration table in the lobby. Nursery care for infants and toddlers and a “mini” tea party for three to five year olds will be provided this year. Iron Sharpens Iron Conference for Men
“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” – Proverbs 27:17. This conference on Sat, Mar 14 is for men of all ages, emerging men (age 13) to seasoned men. It will be at Central Christian Church in Beloit, WI. We’ll meet at Lord of Life at 6am to carpool and return by 7pm. The cost is $50 when paid by Sun, Mar 1. Students (age 13-22) are only $35. Bowling For Babies to Help TLC Pregnancy Services
TLC Pregnancy Services is holding their annual Bowling For Babies fundraiser at Bowlway Lanes in Elgin on Sat, Feb 21, from 11:30am-2:30pm. This is a great opportunity to support one of our mission partners as they continue to provide free pregnancy testing to all women and share the good news of Jesus Christ to all who enter their various locations. The Mission Board of Lord of Life Church invites you to attend our monthly meetings to learn about, and participate in, what God is doing through you, and through the many missions at Lord of Life Church. We will meet in the upstairs conference room on Wed, Feb 25, at 6:30-8 pm. The following months after that, we will meet every third Wednesday of the month at the same time in the same place. We are excited about what God is up to at Lord of Life Church.
