Visit the Giving Tree to Give Christmas Cheer
The giving tree this year will support families at H.E.L.P.S. Ministry in St. Charles. We’ll have two color ornaments to choose from this year. The red ornaments will be items purchased for the Christmas store (unwrapped). The green ornaments will be items that will need to be wrapped especially for individuals in their ministry area. Pick up your ornament in the lobby starting this Sun, Nov 29. All items should be purchased and brought to Lord of Life by Wed, Dec 16. Join Us for Chili, Cocoa, and Caroling on Thu, Dec 10 at 6 p.m. 
We are going to spread Christmas cheer to our home bound Lord of Life members, but first we will start with a chili cook-off dinner (child friendly options available). You don’t have to bring chili to participate. After dinner, we will be leave to visit our home bound friends and sing Christmas carols.  Please sign up on the Connection Card. Ladies, Prepare Your Heart for Christmas with a Cookie Exchange
Ladies of all ages including daughters are invited to come together on Fri, Dec 4 from 6:30-8:30pm to prepare your heart for Christmas. Enjoy Breakfast with Baby Jesus

Train Depot Outreach Event
Our annual event to bless the commuters at the Metra LaFox Street Train Station is ready for boarding. Save the Date: Voter’s Meeting Sun, Dec 13
The voter’s meeting will take place immediately following the 10am worship time on Sun, Dec 13. Approval of the 2016 financial budget as well as updates from the Elders, Executive Board and Pastor Matt will be discussed.

Opportunities to Serve at Christmas Worship Services

Join Pastor Matt for a Baptism Class
Baptism is one of the most important parts of the Christian faith. Pastor Matt will teach a baptism class on Sun, Dec 6 from 11:30am-12:30pm. This class is for anyone who wants to be baptized, including parents who wish to baptize their children, and anyone who has questions about this tremendous gift of grace.  Pastor Matt will walk you through the Scriptures regarding baptism, answer your questions and share the next steps to be baptized at Lord of Life. Donate Blood at Lord of Life on Sun, Nov 29

November is Haitian Missions Month 
This month we support our two Haiti Missions in Port-au-Prince.  Both our partners have orphanages where youth are cared for and where the Christian faith is taught. This December we have an LOL mission team traveling to Haiti. All loose change for this month will go to support both Haitian missions.

Calling All 20-Somethings!
Are you in your 20s? If so, join Pastor Matt for a meeting to discuss the start of a 20-something ministry at Lord of Life. The meeting will be at 7pm, on Mon, Dec 7 in the large conference room upstairs. Come to connect with other 20-somethings and collaborate about starting something new for Christ.

Children’s Christmas Musical Potluck
Come one, come all!  Come kick off the Christmas season with “A Christmas Carol,” presented by the LOL Children’s Music and Drama Teams. This charming musical will be presented on Sun, Dec 13 at 5pm in the Family Life Center. Please join us as we are reminded about the greatest gift of all…..Jesus! Potluck dinner will follow. Please bring a dish to share.

Basic Training for Confirmation
Get trained on the basics of faith and life. There are four sessions: 1) Discovering the Bible, 2) Encountering Jesus, 3) Living on Purpose, and 4) Searching for Truth. Completion of all four sessions is an expectation for confirmation. For more on confirmation go to www.lolchurch.net/confirmation or contact Brian at (630) 513-5325 x140. Basic Training sessions are offered once/month on Saturdays from 9am-12pm. The next session “Searching for Truth” will be on Sat, Dec 12 in the youth room. No sign up necessary. Just show up!

Participate in the Prayer Vigil for International Mission Teams
There are many ways to support our mission teams. There will be a special “sending” during worship on Sun, Dec 13 at both services. In addition, there will be a prayer vigil for both the Haiti and Ghana mission teams while the teams are on mission. We will have sign up sheets for the prayer vigil in December. The goal is to have a person prayer every hour (wherever that person is located) starting Dec 27 through Jan 4.
