Visit the Giving Tree to Give Christmas Cheer
Incredible! Last week you took all but one ornament. In case you missed out, we’re putting a few more ornaments on the Giving Tree this Sunday. Come and check out who we added. The gifts you purchase will help those in the ministry area of Valley View at H.E.L.P.S. (our Mission Partner). Two types of ornaments are available. One for individual gifts (wrapped) and other gifts are for the store (unwrapped). All gift items should be purchased and brought to Lord of Life by Wed, Dec. 16. Join Us for Chili, Cocoa, and Caroling on Thu, Dec 10 at 6 p.m. 
We are going to spread Christmas cheer to our home bound Lord of Life members, but first we will start with a chili cook-off dinner (child friendly options available). You don’t have to bring chili to participate. After dinner, we will be leave to visit our home bound friends and sing Christmas carols.  Please sign up on the Connection Card. Train Depot Outreach Event
Our annual event to bless the commuters at the Metra LaFox Street Train Station is ready for boarding. Please sign your connection card to make cookies, pack cookies or come and hand out Christmas invitations. Mark your calendar for Tues, Dec 22 meeting at LaFox Street Station at 5:45am. Opportunities to Serve at Christmas Worship Services
Please sign up on the Connection Card to serve on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. We need volunteers to help with many areas of hospitality. New Ladies Bible Study coming in January
Join us in the new year for The 7 Experiment by Jen Hatmaker.  Disturbed by her families excess Jen writes about their unique social and spiritual decision to live by 7 rules and reducing material possessions and distractions in 7 areas (food, clothes, spending, media, possessions, waste and stress) in order to connect with a greatly increased God. This class is offered on Wednesday mornings at 9:15am beginning Jan 6 or you can join the  Tuesday evenings class that begins on Jan 12 at 7pm. Save the Date: Voter’s Meeting Sun, Dec 13
The voter’s meeting will take place immediately following the 10am worship time on Sun, Dec 13. Approval of the 2016 financial budget as well as updates from the Elders, Executive Board and Pastor Matt will be discussed.

Children’s Christmas Musical Potluck
Come one, come all!  Come kick off the Christmas season with “A Christmas Carol,” presented by the LOL Children’s Music and Drama Teams. This charming musical will be presented on Sun, Dec 13 at 5pm in the Family Life Center. Please join us as we are reminded about the greatest gift of all…..Jesus! Potluck dinner will follow. Please bring a dish to share.

Basic Training for Confirmation
Get trained on the basics of faith and life. There are four sessions: 1) Discovering the Bible, 2) Encountering Jesus, 3) Living on Purpose, and 4) Searching for Truth. Completion of all four sessions is an expectation for confirmation. For more on confirmation go to www.lolchurch.net/confirmation or contact Brian at (630) 513-5325 x140. Basic Training sessions are offered once/month on Saturdays from 9am-12pm. The next session “Searching for Truth” will be on Sat, Dec 12 in the youth room. No sign up necessary. Just show up!

Participate in the Prayer Vigil for International Mission Teams
There will be a special “sending” during worship on Sun, Dec 13 at both services. In addition, there will be a prayer vigil for both the Haiti and Ghana mission teams while the teams are on mission. We will have signup sheets for the prayer vigil in December. The goal is to have a person prayer every hour (wherever that person is located) starting Dec 27 through Jan 4. New 3pm Worship Time Added for Christmas Eve!
Be sure to join us for Christmas Eve worship on Thu, Dec 24 at 3pm, 5pm or 7pm. Worship on Christmas Day, Fri, Dec 25 will be at 10am. Communion will be celebrated on Christmas Day. Invite your friends to celebrate the birth of Christ!

Are you in your 20s? If so, join Pastor Matt for a meeting to discuss the start of a 20-something ministry at Lord of Life. The meeting will be at 7pm, on Mon, Dec 7 in the large conference room upstairs. Come to connect with other 20-somethings and collaborate about starting something new for Christ.
