Did you know that during the summer months the supply of blood diminishes while the need for blood remains constant. Blood is something that needs to be constantly replenished, but the people who are willing to donate diminishes. Your donation to Heartland Blood Center can and will help to replenish that shortage. It only takes 10-15 minutes to donate but 45 minutes should be allowed for the entire process because of registration, mini physical, donation, and refreshments. Each donation can be made into 3 different blood products. Will YOU consider giving someone the GIFT OF LIFE!? Walk ins are always welcome! Remember to eat something light the morning you donate and bring a picture ID. If you have any questions, please call or email Judy Yant @ 630-294-4328 or Judy.a.Yant@gmail.com.

There is so much that we don’t get about the nature of God. He seems so far off sometimes. Sometimes we wonder if He is really there.

Listen to Pastor David’s message (based on John 8:48-59) about how God reveals Himself as the Holy Trinity. This is the Sunday that the church remembers Him as One God and Three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Jesus also shows how who God is and who He is, as the Son of God, blew the Pharisees’ mind. It blows our minds too, but God, through Jesus, reveals to us that He is always there for us and involved in each moment of our lives. He gives us the opportunity to share with others, through our lives, a realization of how wonderful He is!

<itunes:summary>There is so much that we don't get about the nature of God. He seems so far off sometimes. Sometimes we wonder if He is really there.

Listen to Pastor David's message (based on John 8:48-59) about how God reveals Himself as the Holy Trinity. This is the Sunday that the church remembers Him as One God and Three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Jesus also shows how who God is and who He is, as the Son of God, blew the Pharisees' mind. It blows our minds too, but God, through Jesus, reveals to us that He is always there for us and involved in each moment of our lives. He gives us the opportunity to share with others, through our lives, a realization of how wonderful He is!

Meet Our Interim Pastor David Thies
Pastor David will be serving Lord of Life as lead pastor as we go through the Call process for our next pastor. He is also the Senior Pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church & School in Rockford (since 2003). Before becoming a pastor in 2000 (Faith Lutheran Church in Huntsville, Texas), he was an attorney in Alabama for six years. Pastor David will be preaching this weekend and the next two Sundays at LOL. Either Pastor David or another pastor from St. Paul’s will be with us most Sundays through the summer months and potentially beyond. Our arrangement with Pastor David’s team is that they serve us in a part time and as needed role. He will often be here for at least one week day, usually Tuesday but again as needed. If you would like to get in touch with Pastor David, he can be reached at (815) 962-2145 or pastor@stpaulrockford.org.

Introducing the Call Committee
George Acosta (Chair), Cathy Geiger, Brenda Guetthoff, Bob Kessler, Jim Krage, Matthew Luhman, Jake Martens, Greg Strasser, and Brian Zielke. The process to call a new full time pastor is underway with the assistance of Pastor Keith Haney of the Northern Illinois District (NID). Our first meeting was on May 6th. We are currently collecting and compiling your responses to Critical Characteristics of a Pastor survey. Our next meeting will be on May 23rd. Please continue to pray for and with us as we trust and follow the Spirit’s leading. We will work hard to communicate with and involve the congregation as much as possible. Please contact the church office at (630) 513-5325 with any questions or concerns for the Call Committee.

We are going again on June 20th and I know it is early to ask for your help but we thought that if we ask early that we could get the ball rolling. They are always in need of chicken parts, which can be put in the freezer at church, just label them . Rice, beans, noodles, large cans of tomatoes, vegetables, and potatoes and onions are also needed. Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth;but she, out of her poverty, put in everything- all had to live on.” Mark 12: 43-44 If you have any questions please call Pamela McLane 630 879-0989.

It only takes 10-15 minutes to donate but 45 minutes should be allowed for the entire process because of registration, mini physical, donation, and refreshments. Each donation can be made into 3 different blood products. Will YOU consider giving someone the GIFT OF LIFE!? Please visit the sign up table in the lobby or complete the connection card to make an appointment. walk ins are always welcome! Remember to eat something light the morning you donate and bring a picture ID. If you do not want to donate but are willing to volunteer to serve in other areas such as baking, help out at registration, or sit at the refreshment table please also stop by the sign up table.
Our interim Pastor, Rev. David Thies, was with us for the first time on Sunday. He comes from St Paul Lutheran Church and School in Rockford, IL, where he is the Senior Pastor.

In his sermon, drawing from the Scripture reading in 2 Kings 6:15-18, the overall theme is “God’s Reassurance When Things Are Crazy” – Elisha’s servant saw the enemies army all around. What he was missing was the Lord’s greater army that was there to protect them, even though not normally visible to the naked eye. Upon Elisha’s prayer, the scared servant’s eyes were open to see all the Lord’s forces there to overcome what threatened them. They were delivered from the chaos.

Secondly, this Sunday is known as Pentecost, the time when the Holy Spirit showed itself in a way normally not seen so that those who had been bumbling in their discipleship became vital spokesmen for Christ and the Gospel.

For us this teaches that there is more than meets the eyes when we are scared and anxious. The Lord and His forces are there to deliver us. He can open our eyes through faith to a confidence in Him, even in the worst of times. He can use us as once bumbling disciples to be His instruments to make the world more His and people around it to realize that He is there for them too.
