Mission Connection for February is Natalie Berg
Good News Partners, where Natalie works, is a faith-based, asset-based community development organization (ABCD), focusing on housing, education, and economic development.  In contrast to a traditional social service agency, they do not try to fix other people or solve their problems.  Instead, they focus on empowerment and partnership. They recognize one another’s gifts, talents and experiences and work to enhance each person’s responsibility and potential. We all have something to teach and much to learn. At Good News Partners we know we all need one another for our community, our city, our nation, our world’s optimal health. As a faith-based ministry we seek to embody the hope, freedom, opportunity, community, and justice God intends for us all. We welcome everyone — especially people often discriminated against because of race, gender, economic condition, religion, sexual orientation, or national origins.

Mission Trip to India
Lord of Life Church is planning a mission trip to India in January 2013 for two weeks. We hope to visit our four India missions we support. Three of the missions are located on the eastern coast of southern India. Three of the missionaries have visited Lord of Life: Christobel Russelliah, Anand and Rosie Thandu and Pastor Honoch. They are eager to have a group from Lord of Life visit India. Please join us in prayer for this trip. An organizational meeting will be held on Sunday, Feb. 26, after the second service at 11:15am. Please meet upstairs in the conference room. If you are interested or have questions, talk to Lois Linder 630-879-6717 or Curt Berg 630-513-5325 x31.

You can bring your donations to church and put them in the freezer or on the counter but mark them for St. Matthew’s.

Blood Drive – How Many Lives Did We Save?
We really won’t know the answer to that question.  What we do know is that last Sunday we had 48 people give blood. We had 7 deferred for various reasons and 5 give a double portion. May the LORD bless those who receive this gift of life found in the good graces of those who gave up a part of themselves. “It was amazing to see how the LORD provided during this blood drive. I was so blessed to witness this first hand this time. Heartland Blood Center said this was the largest turnout we’ve had in over a year. Thanks Lord of Life!”  -Judy Yant, LoL Blood Drive Coordinator

Survey Says: Well…Not Quite Ready Yet
Thanks for the first round of feedback.  We’ve received 7 survey responses as of Monday, January 30th. Our first phase was to ask you to pray about how we can work together to disciple our children. The next phase was to get your feedback through a survey we handed out the last two weekends.  During this next phase we’ll be sending out emails asking you to complete the survey online. We hope to hear back from many more of you about how we can serve one another better. The survey is available in the lobby or online at www.lolchurch.net/kids).

Founder’s Week at Moody Church
Founder’s Week at Moody Church in Chicago will be sure to encourage and inspire you.  The theme of this year’s conference is “The Hope Within Us.” Our plans are to attend the Founder’s Week session on Wednesday, February 8.  The link to Founder’s Week is: moodyconferences.com/foundersweek. If you would like to attend Founder’s Week, please contact Dwayne Nelson at 630.365.2275 or dnelsonlol@comcast.net.  We plan to take the 6:41 am Metra train out of Elburn.  That will give us time to have a morning snack and coffee in Chicago, travel to Moody Church, and attend the prayer session at 9:00 am, before the conference begins at 9:30 am.  Depending on how long the afternoon sessions last, we will probably return on the 5:04 pm train.
