Special Voter’s Meeting Sunday, September 29th after the 10am Worship Service
Please plan to attend a Special Voter’s Meeting on Sunday, September 29 immediately after the 10am service. The purpose of this meeting is to extend a call to Pastor Matthew Blackford. Please pick up a bio sheet on Pastor Blackford after service this morning so that you can attend the meeting well prepared.

Sunday Worship Line-Up
While we progress in the call process toward obtaining our new full time pastor, our team of pastors continues to serve us for worship and other matters.  This weekend Pastor David is with us for worship. On September 29th and October 6th Pastor Rub will be back in action.  Come and be part of the family of God in worship at LOL! As always, if you desire greater pastoral care of counseling, please contact the church office directly or Pastor David Thies at 815-962-2145 or email at pastor@stpaulrockford.org

MEN – Fight Club Round 3Fight for what’s right in God’s sight
Round 3 sessions are taking place on both Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00pm and Saturdays from 7:30-9:00am at LOL.  Remember the session content is ALL NEW this round!  We’re using great resources from the Iron Sharpens Iron events and speakers.  This week’s topic is “My Identity in Christ.”  We’ll watch and discuss a video message presented by Dr. Joseph Stowell, the President of Cornerstone University and author of more than 20 Christian books.  Dr. Stowell asks the question “Who are you?” and uncovers a Biblical answer to that common question which helps unleash our identity in Jesus Christ.  We look forward to seeing you there! For more information, contact Brian Griffin at brianmgriffin2013@yahoo.com

Autumn Church Decorating
We will be decorating the inside of the church for the autumn season on Saturday, October 5th @9am. If you would like to help with the decorating, please sign up on this mornings connection card.

Exciting News!
Have you heard the news! The Live Out Loud Charity Annual Fashion show is being held at LORD OF LIFE CHURCH this year! WOW! This is such an AMAZING outreach opportunity for us! Many from the community will be walking thru our church doors for the first time, and we could use LOTS of volunteers to make sure this show goes well! Event is scheduled for Saturday, October 12th from 5pm – 9pm. We need a few greeters, a few “security” personnel, some parking lot assistants, etc. If you want to get involved, please contact KIM COLE at 630-918-3015, or at kimcole1299@sbcglobal.net

September Mission Connection
The Wayside Center in Elgin was established in 1993 as an extension of Wayside Cross Ministries in Aurora. It is primarily a daytime intervention shelter, providing food, clothing, laundry facilities, lockers, Bible study and encouragement for the homeless in the Elgin area. Christ’s love is shared with everyone who comes for assistance. Many volunteers work with local agencies to find jobs, places to live,  child care and other support. Wayside House is an interim home for Wayside Center clients who are employed and in the process of returning to the community.

Always be Ready to GO! Don’t GET caught in the NET
Our Community Outreach calendar is ready. We are adding some new opportunities and bringing back some ol’ reliables. If you are only able to participate in ONE event this season, mark your calendar for SATURDAY, September 28th from 9am to 12pm. This is a Community Care Training (CCT) workshop. It’s very practical, useful, and fun on how to be a good neighbor. Sign-up today!

Monthly Food Drive for Elburn Food Pantry
Each month Lord of Life Church will partner with Lord of Life Preschool for a monthly food drive for our own Elburn Food Pantry. To encourage the children in the art of giving they are taking one marble out of the “need” jar and place it in the “give” jar to show their act of giving. We’ll do the same with the two jars in front of the Mission Display Board. Our goal each month will be one item per LoL family or about 205 items. This month (September) we are collecting any non-perishable product you would use in baking.  Of course, we will collect any type of nonperishable item.  If every family brings in just one item, our goal will be reached…any additional items will help us exceed the goal! Due Date  is October 7.  Theme:  Baking Productsflour, sugar, mixes, etc.

Dog Festival Event Review
From Chloe, the Comfort Dog:  Thank you Lord of Life Family for your generous support and the united effort by the dog festival team to last Saturday’s Paws for Fun Dog Festival. All my furry four legged friends and their owners had a wonderful time entering contests and winning prizes, eating delicious Reams Brats and Hot Dogs, and most of all enjoying the wonderful weather the Lord supplied for the event. I wish I could give you a round of applause, but please know that my tail is waggin’ because of your support and love for this ministry.

Quilters of the King
Praise God to whom all blessings flow. We are so thankful to everyone who has donated fabric and other donations to our group. This year we will be making quilted pillows for the children at Lifespring. If you have any small square or rectangular pillows in good condition that we could recover we would greatly appreciate them. We can always use white thread but not quilting thread. Come join us on Thursday mornings for devotions, sewing and wonderful snacks, laughter and fun. Sewing is not a requirement and we always can use another pair of hands to do God’s work. Call Pamela McLane, 1.630.879.0989 for more information.

IYC Closing Ceremony for TORCH Weekend
We are doing a Torch weekend at IYC this November. We would like to invite you to the closing ceremony on Sunday Nov 17th at approx 2:00 PM. We would like to get at least 100 people to come to the closing ceremony, so feel free to pass this on to other church members. If you’d like to come, you will need to complete the DCFS/IYC form and get it back to me in the next few weeks. It takes about 4-6 weeks to have the state do the new background check for IYC visitors. Please contact Carlos Baez at cubaez@gmail.com
