Once again, we are glad to get feedback as to how well we are serving you in this time that we continue the process for searching for the Lord’s “regular” pastor to come to us.  You are welcome to let an elder know how you feel or if you would rather a pastor, contact the church office or our lead pastor directly, Pastor David, at or by  cell at 815-962-2145.

Feed My Starving Children – NEW Potato Meals

Tuesday, September 17th 6:00pm – 7:30pm is our next FMSC event. We’re going to be packing a new meal. The packing session you will be attending will be for MannaPack Potato W. This is a different meal than you may be used to packing. It consists of three ingredients. It is a more powdery substance, so be aware, if you wear contacts, some  may want to wear glasses for this. You may experience dryness as a result. Also there is milk in this product, so if you have a milk allergy you may want to sit this one out. More about MannaPack Potato-W: This potato-based meal is specially formulated for children 7-12 months of age. MannaPack Potato-W is meant as a short-term weaning food while children transition from their mother’s milk to more solid foods such as FMSC’s MannaPack Rice. Potato-W is comprised of three powder ingredients: soy flour, sweet potato flavoring packed with micronutrients and fat as well as granulated potato flour. Prepare to get a little dusty during your packing session, but also know that you are feeding children during their most vulnerable age. It’s your hands that will turn hunger into hope and we also invite you to invest in bringing these children a brighter tomorrow through donating and fundraising. We give our food away for free to those in need, however, we do need to assure the cost of the food is covered. This is where you come in!

Consider these facts as you prepare your group to invest:

  • 22 cents pays for one nutrition-packed MannaPack Potato-W meal $20 will feed a child for 3 months.
  • $10 will keep a child alive for 45 days
  • $25 will feed over 100 babies in a Haitian orphanage

Come prepared by:

  • Arriving 15 minutes early to get checked in and situated
  • Wearing clean, comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes (tennis shoes preferable).
  • Abiding by our adult to youth ratios
  • Leaving jewelry at home, we’re not allowed to wear it in our packing room. The only exceptions are newly pierced ears and medical alert jewelry.

Monthly Food Drive for Elburn Food Pantry
Each month Lord of Life Church will partner with Lord of Life Preschool for a monthly food drive for our own Elburn Food Pantry. To encourage the children in the art of giving they are taking one marble out of the “need” jar and place it in the “give” jar to show their act of giving. We’ll do the same with the two jars in front of the Mission Display Board. Our goal each month will be one item per LoL family or about 205 items.

This month (September) we are collecting any non-perishable product you would use in baking.  Of course, we will collect any type of nonperishable item.  If every family brings in just one item, our goal will be reached…any additional items will help us exceed the goal! Due Date  is October 7.  Theme:  Baking Products-flour, sugar, mixes, etc.

St. Matthew’s Soup Kitchen
“She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.” Proverbs 31: 20 We will be serving at St. Matthew’s on Sept. 19th. and would like you to come out and help us. We will be leaving the church at 10:00 and need drivers. They are running very low on food. We will be collecting chicken legs and thighs, large bags of rice, beans, noodles, canned tomatoes, and canned or frozen vegetables. The frozen items can be left in the freezers at church and the cans and dry foods on the counter marked for St. Matthew’s. We also will be making candy bags, which they enjoy so very much and need small chocolate candy bars or any wrapped chocolates to fill them. It is always such a joy to serve these people and to help Pastor Lozo and Maria. In Dec. we would like to make bags with travel size products for each person. Call Pamela McLane, 1.630.879.0989 for more information.

September Mission Connection
The Wayside Center in Elgin was established in 1993 as an extension of Wayside Cross Ministries in Aurora. It is primarily a daytime intervention shelter, providing food, clothing, laundry facilities, lockers, Bible study and encouragement for the homeless in the Elgin area. Christ’s love is shared with everyone who comes for assistance. Many volunteers work with local agencies to find jobs, places to live,  child care and other support. Wayside House is an interim home for Wayside Center clients who are employed and in the process of returning to the community.

Meagan Seals Miracle Baby Fundraiser
We’re halfway to our goal of $3,600. We have a special presentation planned for today, Sunday September 1st during the offering. There are some great stories to tell of what GOD is doing with Meagan and the community. We plan to have the fundraiser run through Sunday, September 8th. Let’s see if we can reach our goal.

Quilters of the King
Praise God to whom all blessings flow. We are so thankful to everyone who has
donated fabric and other donations to our group. This year we will be making quilted
pillows for the children at Lifespring. If you have any small square or rectangular
pillows in good condition that we could recover we would greatly appreciate them. We
can always use white thread but not quilting thread. Come join us on Thursday
mornings for devotions, sewing and wonderful snacks, laughter and fun. Sewing is not
a requirement and we always can use another pair of hands to do God’s work. Call
Pamela McLane, 1.630.879.0989 for more information.
