Thanksgiving Eve Worship Wednesday, November 27 @7pm

November Mission Connection
St. Matthew’s Soup Kitchen in Chicago is a lovely old church in the Pilsen neighborhood  that we have been mission partners with for many years. Our loose change in the offering plate  this month will go to Pastor Loza and the Soup Kitchen. We have met so many warm hearted people in our travels into help serve. No one is turned away for a meal at St. Matthew’s and no one is judged. Please join us on December 19th to help serve their Christmas lunch. Some of these people will have no other Christmas meal. We are collecting frozen chicken parts, big bags of beans and rice and large cans of tomatoes, vegetables and fruit. Please drop these off in the kitchen and mark them for St. Matthew’s. Sign up on the connection card or call Pamela McLane 630.879.0989 for more information. We also could use another driver.

Blood Drive Sign-Ups
November is the month that we all give thanks for all we have, this year will you help someone give thanks for you. Sunday December 1st, the Sunday after Thanksgiving, is our quarterly blood drive with Heartland Blood Center. Sign-ups begin today November 17th and will continue next Sunday November 24th. All successful blood donors will receive a $10 Target gift card to either start your Christmas shopping or buy a gift for someone on the HELPS giving tree, which will be placed near the blood drive. We are also in need of volunteers to bake goodies for the blood donors or to sit at the refreshment table. Please either stop by the table after service to sign up, fill out the connection card, or call/email Judy Yant at 630-294-4328/judy.a.yant@gmail.com to reserve your spot to donate or volunteer. This year for Christmas won’t you give someone the greatest gift of all, the gift of life.

Marklund Volunteer Opportunities – Hands ON Mission Partner
Thank you for everything you do for the infants, children, and adults at Marklund. Marklund families, residents and staff truly appreciate every hour donated by every volunteer!! You are an important member of the Marklund family!!! Holiday Decorating- It is a Marklund tradition to “Deck the Halls” (decorate the homes) on the Friday after Thanksgiving. 60 volunteers needed at our Geneva Campus for this activity. Great family/kid friendly fun! Holiday Gift Opening- It is a Marklund tradition to open our Christmas gifts on Christmas Eve morning. Volunteers are paired up with one or two residents and provide hand over hand assistance to open gifts. 100 volunteers are needed on our Geneva Campus for this activity. Great family/kid friendly fun! Hope you can help out with one of these wonderful opportunities we have on our Geneva Campus!

Monthly Food Drive for Elburn Food Pantry
Each month Lord of Life Church will partner with Lord of Life Preschool for a monthly food drive for our own Elburn Food Pantry. To encourage the children in the art of giving they are taking one marble out of the “need” jar and place it in the “give” jar to show their act of giving. We’ll do the same with the two jars in front of the Mission Display Board. Our goal each month will be one item per LoL family or about 205 items. This month (November) we are collecting Baby Products-jar food, cereal, diapers, wipes, etc. If every family brings in just one item, our goal will be reached…any additional items will help us exceed the goal!

We are still looking for a few good men – or women – to help on the Trustee Board. Please sign your connection card if interested in knowing more information on how you could build up the House of GOD at Lord of Life Church. [Double meaning intended.]

Lazarus House Asking for Some Help
Many of you may, or may not, know about our homeless shelter in our own backyard called Lazarus House (LH). Located on Walnut and 3rd Streets in Saint Charles, LH provides a safe place for those who are homeless or need that extra hand up. LH is in desperate need of overnight help to cover a gap in the monthly schedule. Lord of Life provides two of those overnight volunteers twice a month. We could use a few more. If the LORD is tugging on your heart, check mark the box on your connection card and we’ll be in touch. Our LoL ministry to LH also could use a few more people to help with meals. Once a quarter volunteers prepare a large hot dish to feed about 40 people. Meat is provided by LH from surplus donations. Please sign up on your connection card if this is an area you’d like to serve.

Cookies, Cookies, Cookies
Will you bake cookies for our visit to IYC?  Cookies need to be delivered to Lord of Life Church by Thursday December 5.  If you can help…contact Barb or Don Martens 630-232-7320 donmartens@comcast.net
