Christmas Decorating
We will be decorating the Solid Rock Lodge and worship center for the Christmas season the Saturday following Thanksgiving,  November 30th @9am. We need many helpers and men with muscle to help with the Christmas trees. If you are able to help, please sign up on this mornings connection card.

Collecting Plastic Take Home Containers
Our kitchen’s stock of take home containers has been depleted. We are looking for reusable plastic containers with lids (i.e. from whipped topping, sour cream, cottage cheese, etc.) so that we can continue to send leftovers out after events.  Please drop them off in the main kitchen.

Quilters of the King
We continue to make baby quilts for the pregnancy centers. We have 10 finished. Thank you Lord for all the opportunities you put before us. Praise God to whom all blessings flow. Come join us on Thursday mornings for devotions, sewing and wonderful snacks, laughter and fun. Sewing is not a requirement and we always can use another pair of hands to do God’s work. Call Pamela McLane, 1.630.879.0989 for more information.

Lazarus House Asking for Some Help
Many of you may, or may not, know about our homeless shelter in our own backyard called Lazarus House (LH). Located on Walnut and 3rd Streets in Saint Charles, LH provides a safe place for those who are homeless or need that extra hand up. LH is in desperate need of overnight help to cover a gap in the monthly schedule. Lord of Life provides two of those overnight volunteers twice a month. We could use a few more. If the LORD is tugging on your heart, check mark the box on your connection card and we’ll be in touch. Our LoL ministry to LH also could use a few more people to help with meals. Once a quarter volunteers prepare a large hot dish to feed about 40 people. Meat is provided by LH from surplus donations. Please sign up on your connection card if this is an area you’d like to serve.

Operation Christmas Child
Sunday, November 24th, is the last Sunday to hand in your shoeboxes. Thanks for all those who took the time and energy to put your shoeboxes together made by your tender loving hands for those tender loving children at the ends of the earth.

Blood Drive Sign-Ups
November is the month that we all give thanks for all we have, this year will you help someone give thanks for you. Sunday December 1st, the Sunday after Thanksgiving, is our quarterly blood drive with Heartland Blood Center. Sign-ups begin today November 17th and will continue next Sunday November 24th. All successful blood donors will receive a $10 Target gift card to either start your Christmas shopping or buy a gift for someone on the HELPS giving tree, which will be placed near the blood drive. We are also in need of volunteers to bake goodies for the blood donors or to sit at the refreshment table. Please either stop by the table after service to sign up, fill out the connection card, or call/email Judy Yant at 630-294-4328/judy.a.yant@gmail.com to reserve your spot to donate or volunteer. This year for Christmas won’t you give someone the greatest gift of all, the gift of life.

November Mission Connection
St Matthew’s Soup Kitchen in Chicago serves hot meals each week to the homeless, unemployed, seniors and children in the Pilsen Neighborhood. Pastor Loza and his miracle worker, Maria Leal, started the Soup Kitchen 23 years ago. It is a beacon of hope in Chicago to fulfill Christ’s miracle of the bread and the fish to feed thousands who suffer from hunger. Lord of Life is blessed to partner with Pastor Loza. Our next visit is Thurs Dec 19 and we are collecting food to take along. Please join us as we help serve the food and give encouragement to all who walk through the doors. Bible reading and prayer is given before each meal. Our loose change offerings will go to Pastor Loza and the Soup Kitchen during the month of November.

Monthly Food Drive for Elburn Food Pantry
Each month Lord of Life Church will partner with Lord of Life Preschool for a monthly food drive for our own Elburn Food Pantry. To encourage the children in the art of giving they are taking one marble out of the “need” jar and place it in the “give” jar to show their act of giving. We’ll do the same with the two jars in front of the Mission Display Board. Our goal each month will be one item per LoL family or about 205 items. This month (November) we are collecting Baby Products-jar food, cereal, diapers, wipes, etc. If every family brings in just one item, our goal will be reached…any additional items will help us exceed the goal!

Cookies, Cookies, Cookies
Will you bake cookies for our visit to IYC?  Cookies need to be delivered to Lord of Life Church by Thursday December 5.  If you can help…contact Barb or Don Martens 630.232.7320 donmartens@comcast.net

Trustee Report
Wade Kuipers presents the “State of the Trustees” during worship service this Sunday. Come and hear what the Trustee Board is up to – past, present, and future. Remember we’re rekeying the outside doors on Friday, November 22nd. If you think you’ll need a key, we need to hear from you. If you have an old key, they will no longer be useful. Please return your old key to the church office.
