Blood Drive
Heartland Blood Centers needs your help! There is a critical need for all blood types. Approximately 2,000 units of blood have been lost in January due to the severe temperatures, an increase in illness, and the cancellation of some 21 blood drives. Due to this, we are unable to supply the local hospitals with the blood products that are needed. To meet the needs of the 49 hospitals served by Heartland Blood Centers, almost 600 units of blood are needed every day.  In order to rebuild the blood inventories that have been so greatly impacted by the adverse conditions, we are holding our quarterly blood drive Sun, Mar 2 from 7:30am-Noon in Cup of Life Cafe. To be a blood donor, individuals must be at least 17 years old or 16 with written parental permission; weigh at least 110 pounds; be symptom free of cold, flu and allergies; and be in general good health. Please fill out the connection card or stop by the table to sign up. If you have any questions about donating blood or are willing to serve in other ways, please contact Judy Yant at (630) 294-4328 or or stop by the signup table. If you are someone that has been considering donating blood, please sign up…we need you!
