Lazarus House Asking for Some Help
Many of you may, or may not, know about our homeless shelter in our own backyard called Lazarus House (LH). Located on Walnut and 3rd Streets in Saint Charles, LH provides a safe place for those who are homeless or need that extra hand up. LH is in desperate need of overnight help to cover a gap in the monthly schedule. Lord of Life provides two of those overnight volunteers twice a month. We could use a few more. If the LORD is tugging on your heart, check mark the box on your connection card and we’ll be in touch. Our LoL ministry to LH also could use a few more people to help with meals. Once a quarter volunteers prepare a large hot dish to feed about 40 people. Meat is provided by LH from surplus donations. Please sign up on your connection card if this is an area you’d like to serve.

Cookies, Cookies, Cookies
Will you bake cookies for our visit to IYC?  Cookies need to be delivered to Lord of Life Church by Thursday December 5.  If you can help…contact Barb or Don Martens 630-232-7320 donmartens@comcast.net

Chris-Myth Busters Children’s Musical December 15 @5pm
Come one, come all!  Come kick off the Christmas season with “Chris-Myth Busters,” presented by the LOL Children’s Music and Drama Teams.  This charming musical will be presented on December 15 at 5:00 PM in the Family Life Center.  Ethan has a new sister, Michelle. Only Michelle’s not a cute little bundle of joy. She’s a pretty big kid…adopted…and a bit of an annoying trivia buff. When Michelle starts busting some myths about Christmas to Ethan’s friends, it causes quite a stir. Ethan, Lily and Abby begin to wonder: Were there more or less than three Wise Men? Was Jesus really born on December 25th? And what about the angels…did they sing or not? What…no innkeeper? After reading the biblical account of the birth of Jesus, Lily and Abby are still confused. Through it all, Michelle learns that even though some facts about the very first Christmas might not be clear, the truth about why Jesus came is everywhere in Scripture.  Please join us as we learn the truth about why Jesus came! Potluck dinner will follow. Please bring a dish to share.

Birthday Party at Lifespring
Happy Birthday Baby Jesus! We will be going to Lifespring on Saturday, December 7th at 10:30am to celebrate the birth of our Lord with the ladies and children. Lifespring is the women’s division of Wayside Cross. The ladies come to Lifespring for shelter and to get on the road to living good Christian lives. We will be doing a devotion, craft, opening gifts, and serving lunch. The Quilters of the King made pillows, provided a stuffed animals and a book for each child. We would like to invite anyone who would like to attend or could use a ride. Please contact Pamela McLane 630 879 0989, or sign up on the connection card. Arrival time is set at 10:30am. “Give, and it will be given to you. A measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Luke 6: 38

Saint Matthew Soup Kitchen
St Matthew Lutheran Church in Chicago will again serve Christmas dinner to their congregation and neighborhood families. Pastor Loza has asked Lord of Life to donate small inexpensive gifts for the children: toys, socks, Tshirts, story books, mittens, etc. Please wrap the gifts and mark them “boy” or “girl.” Place the gifts in the basket at the Mission Wall by Dec 19th. For more information, call Lois Linder 630-879-6717.

Monthly Food Drive for Elburn Food Pantry
Each month Lord of Life Church will partner with Lord of Life Preschool for a monthly food drive for our own Elburn Food Pantry. To encourage the children in the art of giving they are taking one marble out of the “need” jar and place it in the “give” jar to show their act of giving. We’ll do the same with the two jars in front of the Mission Display Board. Our goal each month will be one item per LoL family or about 205 items. This month (November) we are collecting Baby Products-jar food, cereal, diapers, wipes, etc. If every family brings in just one item, our goal will be reached…any additional items will help us exceed the goal!
