Quilters of the King
We’re in the process of making quilts for the Veterans. We sent five already and have about that many more ready to send. If anyone would like to help with the postage it would be greatly appreciated. Our next project will be baby quilts for Fox Valley Pregnancy Center. We are in need of children prints, solid pastels and battling to layer them. If anyone has any stuffing for pillow we will be doing pillows for Lifespring in the fall. Please keep thinking of us when you see items at garage sales. Also if you have like-new stuffed animals and children’s books we can use them. Thank you to everyone who helps us with this mission. By your donations we are able to accomplish so much. To God be the glory. For more information call Pamela McLane 630 879 0989.

TLC Pregnancy Services – Life Choices
TLC Pregnancy Center in Elgin,  offers support and guidance to women who choose life as part of God’s perfect plan.  In honor of Mother’s Day, LoL is joyfully offering the opportunity to provide a tangible means of assistance.  The Tree of Life located next to the Missions bulletin board, is  filled with brightly colored flowers for the ladies, and smaller white boutonnieres for the gentlemen.  Please pick a flower!  Attached to the flower is an item from the TLC wish list.  (Maternity and children’s clothing can be gently used). Please place your unwrapped gift in the box next to the tree, which will be available through Mother’s Day.  Thanks to God for the compassionate giving of our church family.  Please know when you pick a flower your gift is providing hope for brave expectant mothers.

Elburn Food Pantry
Partnering with Lord of Life Preschool collecting different items each month. Our goal is one item per person which translates to 120 for preschool and 280 for the church. We’re anticipating over 400 items again in May. The current items we’re collecting are Rice and Pasta products. They are due Tuesday, May 7th. We’re encouraging every student, every member, every attender to just bring one item. Hey, that’s easy. This is our last collection of the school year so let’s go out with a great effort.

Event Update: Saint Matthew Soup Kitchen
Event Date: Tuesday, Apr 25, 2013
We would like to thank everyone who traveled to St. Matthew’s. There were times that we did not think it was going to happen but God knew better and came through for us. Also going was our missionary from Ghana, John Donkoh. We took large bags of rice and large cans of fruit and vegetables collected by LOL for the Soup Kitchen. We also took small bags of assorted chocolate candy for the 85 guests who came for the wonderful hot meal. Pamela McLane made 2 large cakes for them also. We had a great visit. Pastor Loza looks and feels good. Praises and Prayer Requests: Praises for Pastor Loza’s medical treatment and renewed God-given strength. Thanksgiving for the 10 who traveled to Chicago, especially for the 2 drivers. Praises for the devotions presented and shared with the people coming to eat. Prayers that the Soup Kitchen can continue to feed the hungry in the Pilsen Neighborhood of Chicago.

Our Next Visit to Saint Matthew Soup Kitchen
We are going again on June 20th and I know it is early to ask for your help but we thought that if we ask early that we could get the ball rolling. We need small candy bars or chocolates to fill 100 bags to hand out. We also would like to make bags with little shampoo’s, conditioner and hand cream in them. They are always in need of chicken parts, which can be put in the freezer at church, just label them . Rice, beans, noodles, large cans of tomatoes, vegetables, and potatoes and onions are also needed. Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury then all others. They all gave out of their wealth;but she, out of her poverty, put in everything- all had to live on.” Mark 12: 43-44 If you have any questions please call Pamela McLane 630 879-0989.

Graduates!
During services on Sunday, May 19th we will recognize and pray for those who have or will be graduating this school year.  If that is you or someone you know, please plan to be there and encourage other graduates to come to worship that day.
