March Mission Connection-Grace Christian Academy
Grace Christian is a mission outreach school in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago serving students age 3 to grade eight. Many students have no home church and rely on Grace to hear the Gospel. Grace is dependent on individuals and Lutheran congregations throughout northern Illinois for financial assistance for tuition expenses and educational programs. Thanks for your loose change offering. Every cent matters!

Elburn Food Pantry
Partnering with Lord of Life Preschool collecting different items each month. The current items we’re collecting are Canned Vegetables/Fruit. They are due Tuesday, March 12th. We’re encouraging every student, every member, every attender to just bring one item. Hey, that’s easy. Here are the items coming up soon and the due dates: Tuesday, April 9th Paper Products-Paper Towels, TP, napkins, Kleenex, etc.; Tuesday, May 7th Rice/Pasta.

Haiti Mission Trip
Gary Kessler gave us an update on the upcoming mission trip to Haiti. There are Want to help with the Haiti Mission Trip but can’t go to Haiti? How about getting them to the airport on time? The team needs to be at O’hare at 6 AM on Tuesday, March 12th.  They will also need to be picked up at O’hare on Tuesday, March 19th for a flight that is scheduled to arrive at 5PM. This could be the opportunity you’re looking for to send them off since you weren’t able to go yourself. How ‘bout it?

Feed My Starving Children
We packing during Spring break! Let’s get you students out in mass!!! Meet at LoL at 7pm to  carpool to North Aurora for this month’s packaging event on Tuesday, March 26th. Let’s Pack the Place. Packaging time is 8:00pm to 9:30pm. Sign-up on your connection card.

Update from Quilters of the King
The quilters put the finishing touches on the 40 dresses for Haiti. We hung all the dresses on the portable bulletin boards for the congregation to see on Sunday, March 3rd and 10th. The dresses will be delivered to the Bon Repos Orphanage March 12 by the mission team. A big thanks to those who bought t-shirts and fabric for us.

LERT Training
UPDATE – Prepare to Share the Mercy, Compassion, Presence and Proclamation of Christ in Disasters . Send an email to or call the church office 630.513.5325 to learn more about the 2013 Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT) trainings: Sunday, May 5 – Calvary Lutheran Church, Elgin, Illinois Registration & dessert begin at 1:30pm followed by training from 2-5pm. Ready to be Confirmed?
We are scheduling a Confirmation Sunday to encourage youth to take steps on their path to a personal profession of faith.  We will celebrate Confirmations on April 14th.  See the expectations for Confirmation outlined at  Contact Brian Zielke at (630) 513-5325 x40 or with questions or to set up an interview – before the end of March.

Summer Mission Trip for Youth & Families
Serve this summer with one of our LOL Mission Partners: World Mission Prayer League in Minneapolis, Minnesota! There will be a variety of projects and experiences for all ages and skill levels. Pastor Phil’s Call to New Jersey

Pastor Phil recently announced he has accepted a call to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Old Bridge, NJ. We are thankful for his service here and will be sad to see him go. Please know our Lord of Life leadership is currently working on matters of transition and will have much to share very soon. Pastor Phil’s final Sunday at Lord of Life will be on April 21.

New Member Orientation
Join us for the Lord of Life New Member Orientation on Saturday, March 16 from 8am–12pm. The New Member Orientation provides an overview of what we believe and teach as a church. It is a great opportunity to meet some new people and learn about the vision and priorities of Lord of Life. At the end of the orientation, participants are given the opportunity to sign the Lord of Life membership covenant to be received as new members. The orientation lasts about 4 hours. Join the Prayer Circle
Join us each Sunday morning during the season of Lent to Circle God’s promises in prayer at 7:30am. We are praying that Lord of Life would would be a house of prayer at that everything we do would be led with prayer. Come help make this happen!

Holy Week Worship
Join us for Holy Week worship services. Maundy Thursday Worship is March 28 at 7pm. Good Friday Worship is March 29 at 7pm.

Easter Fellowship
The Connection Board could use your help with Easter Sunday fellowship goodies. They could use donations of Easter specialty goodies, i.e. bunny cakes, decorated cookies, hotcross buns, etc. Donations can be dropped off on Good Friday and placed in the main kitchen marked “Easter Fellowship”.

Date Night Saturday, April 13th 6-9 p.m
Dinner for adults, dinner/child care, and program Focus in the Family Date Night Challenge. Cost $30 for couple/$40 for family (includes childcare/dinner). Scholarships available!  Sign up next week in the lobby or on the connection card this morning. On-line registration coming soon!
