Quilters of the King
We’re in the process of making quilts for the Veterans. We sent five already and have about that many more ready to send. If anyone would like to help with the postage it would be greatly appreciated. Our next project will be baby quilts for Fox Valley Pregnancy Center. We are in need of  children prints, solid pastels and battling to layer them. If anyone has any stuffing for pillow we will be doing pillows for Lifespring in the fall. Please keep thinking of us when you see items at garage sales. Also if you have like-new stuffed animals and children’s books we can use them. Thank you to everyone who helps us with this mission. By your donations we are able to accomplish so much. To God be the glory. For more information call Pamela McLane 630 879 0989.

Undercover Special Operations
Are you Ready to GO? Let’s go undercover to find the good guys! Agents have gone to Arkansas, Ohio, and Haiti. Where are you going? You may be one of these Special Agents. May the LORD use us to share the Good News through our serving in our community wherever that may be. Check out the Care Calendar for opportunities to serve in our community. Please help yourself to a calendar located at the Missions Bulletin Board.

TLC Pregnancy Services – Life Choices PART 1
Help protect the unborn. The Life Center (TLC) and Life Choices Pregnancy Crisis Center provide free pregnancy and ultrasound testing and counseling in our community. Everyone who comes hears the gospel message before leaving. Please help our church support this mission by giving a donation or attending their annual fundraising banquet on April 25th at Villa Olivia. It will feature a delicious dinner and guest speaker Janet Parshall, the nationally syndicated Christian talk show host on Moody Radio. Please call Robin Mathieu at 630-715-2198 to reserve your spot.

TLC Pregnancy Services – Life Choices PART 2
Spring has sprung! Or has it?  God always has a plan and his timing is perfect.  Soon we will be blessed with sunshine and flowers. TLC Pregnancy Center in Elgin,  offers support and guidance to women who choose life as part of God’s perfect plan.  In honor of Mother’s Day, LoL is joyfully offering the opportunity to provide a tangible means of assistance.  The Tree of Life located next to the Missions bulletin board, is  filled with brightly colored flowers for the ladies, and smaller white boutonnieres for the gentlemen.  Please pick a flower!  Attached to the flower is an item from the TLC wish list.  (Maternity and children’s clothing can be gently used). Please place your unwrapped gift in the box next to the tree, which will be available through Mother’s Day.  Thanks to God for the compassionate giving of our church family.  Please know when you pick a flower your gift is providing hope for brave expectant mothers.

National Day of Prayer – Thursday, May 2, at 7:00 pm
In His name the nations will put their hope.  Matthew 12:21. The United States Congress has designated the first Thursday of May each year to be a National Day of Prayer.  The theme of this year’s National Day of Prayer is “Pray for America” based on Matthew 12:21.  Please join us on Thursday, May 2, at 7:00 pm, at Lord of Life Church, to pray for our great nation.  Along with millions of other sisters and brothers in Christ, we will pray for 1) our government, 2) the military, 3) the media, 4) business, 5) education, 6) the church, and 7) our families.  For additional information on the National Day of Prayer, contact Dwayne Nelson at 630.488.2510 or dnelsonlol@comcast.net, or visit: http://nationaldayofprayer.org/.

IYC TORCH Retreat
LOL is participating in the TORCH retreat weekend at the Illinois Youth Center (IYC) on May 3, 4 and 5th.  Church members have been faithfully attending 40 hours of classes in preparation for serving the 30 -35 incarcerated young men who will be attending.  This team is then committed to weekly mentoring  individual youths for the next 6-12 months.

Through Christian example we are hoping the young men will remove their masks, make mature choices, and build their self-esteem thereby having a hope for a life not affiliated with gangs and crime.

Please see your connection card to sign up for at least one area of need.  Monetary donations are tax deductible and should be made out to Kairos Prison Ministry International.

Please remember to pray for the boys and their TORCH team members during the retreat from May 3 through May 5.

Mission Connection for April — Ethnos Commission
The Ethnos Commission is all about church development. Gene and Carol Burton, our LOL missionaries from Greeley CO, have planted many churches among Native, Hispanic and other ethnic groups. Two of those churches are Indian Bible Church in Denver and Supai Bible Church at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. In July 2010, Lord of Life’s youth team traveled to Greely and started a park ministry with the Burtons. This month we remember Marty Olson who loved and supported the Burtons for many years and recommended they become a Lord of Life mission partner.

Mission Luncheon Coming Next SUNDAY
Sunday, April 28th is a big day for missions. We will present India, Haiti, and Minneapolis. Bring a dish to pass, but most importantly just come! You’ll be glad you did! Besides bringing a dish to pass do enjoy some fellowship as we share our stories of how GOD uses us in missions. You’ll be home no later than 2pm.

Saint Matthew’s Soup Kitchen
We are in need of more candy for St. Matthew’s Soup Kitchen. We are making 70 bags of candy with Bible verses to hand out on April 25th. If you could buy some mini candy bars and bring them to the church and mark them for St. Matthew’s we would appreciate it. We will be doing the bags on Thursday, April 18 at Quilters of the King. Come join us for a fun morning. We also need more people and drivers to go on Thursday, April 25th. If you can help call Pamela McLane at 630 879 0989. If you can not go but want to help they need chicken quarters, big bags of rice, large cans of tomatoes, cans of frozen vegetables, and dried beans. Jesus fed the hungry and we can be His hands and feet in this local mission. “For He will deliver the needy when he cries,The poor also, and him who has no helper. He will spare the poor and needy, and will save the souls of the needy. He will redeem their life from oppression and violence, and precious shall be their blood in His sight.” Psalm 72 12-14
